sherwin williams interview project

New Minwax Can

In December 2020, I applied to Sherwin Williams for the Learning Experience Design Internship. After having three interviews and getting to know the people of the Learning Experience department, I was given a small project to complete and explain for my final interview with all three of the department members.

The goal of this project was to effectively get the message to employees, that the Minwax label has changed and show where to find the steps for set up, how to get professional results as well as the best cleanup process. I was given a file with a few assets I could use. I was also told I could use outside sources to complete the project.

I ended up with two different designs. The first design is more visual than informational. The header shows someone staining in the background so that before the viewer even reads anything on the page they know this is going to be some sort of information about staining. I then added a simple heading and brining visual hierarchy to “new look”. The viewers eye then goes to the next section of the page where they see the new label the Minwax can contains. The steps on the label, are pointed out beside it and the viewers eye continues to proceed down the page. They then see the old Minwax can in the show of the new Minwax can, as another form of visual hierarchy. The viewers eye then goes to the right of the new Minwax can to see the date these new cans will be in sore and proceeds through the white space to exit the page.
